In January, Flickerfest will celebrate 25 years as the most significant short film event in Australia. The festival continues to present a world–class short film competition, celebrating and introducing some of the most talented short filmmakers the planet has to offer.
From 8–17 January 2016, the 10–day festival will again take over Sydney's historic art deco Bondi Beach Pavilion. The Sydney season will be followed by a 50+ venue tour across all states of Australia.
The official trailer, written and directed by talented Flickerfest alumni and Media Super member, Kacie Anning, summons Marilyn Monroe to Bondi Beach to sing a breathy happy birthday to the festival.
Nearly 2500 entries from around the world have been whittled down to the just over 100 that will be screened in competition.
Flickerfest Director Bronwyn Kidd says 'she is thrilled that Flickerfest is once again a platform for our most exciting, creative and talented short filmmakers in Australia and we look forward to celebrating this talent for Flickerfest's landmark 25th year.'
Films at Flickerfest compete for a number of prestigious prizes, including The Academy® Accredited awards for Best International Short Film, Best International Animation, Best Australian Short Film and Best Short Documentary, plus a host of other prizes that recognise the various crafts pivotal to making a great short film.
Flickerfest will also present a number of showcase sessions, including FlickerKids, Short Laughs, and a programme celebrating the best of 25 years of short film talent.
Media Super is a proud partner of the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival.
