Strategic Asset Allocation changes

20201116 early release impact on insurance account

At Media Super, we offer a range of investment options to suit our members goals, time frames and their preferred levels of risk and we invest across a wide range of asset classes including shares, property, infrastructure, private equity, fixed interest and cash both in Australia and overseas.

Each investment option has set investment objectives and we review these objectives every year to ensure they meet members’ needs. When we do this, we look at a range of factors including the age of our members, the economic environment and how we expect different types of assets to perform.

As a result of the FY2023/24 annual review, we have made the following changes effective 28 June 2024:

Asset class changes

  • Renaming the ‘Alternative Growth’ asset class to the ‘Alternatives’ asset class.

Seeks to achieve returns from a range of growth and defensive investments, with an emphasis on strategies that provide diversification benefits. Investments often have a low sensitivity to equity markets and interest rate risks. The asset class may include opportunities across a range of different markets and securities, such as shares, fixed interest and credit, venture capital, currency and real assets. Derivative-based strategies may also be used to generate additional returns.

These changes apply across all investment options.

Strategic Asset Allocation changes
